World Medical Card Launches Multi-Language Medical Information App that Runs Flawlessly on Android, iOS, Windows and Blackberry

World Medical Card provides travelers with multilingual, portable medical profiles—storing conditions, medications, allergies and more on a website and on a physical card—to ensure accurate treatment abroad. Wanting to make that information instantly available on mobile and add live translation into 19 languages, the company needed a secure, offline-capable app that would run on iOS, Android, Windows and BlackBerry without the time and cost of building separate native versions.

Using Alpha Anywhere, developer Jeff Benson built a single codebase app (HTML5/PhoneGap) that integrates with World Medical Card’s WordPress/MySQL backend, stores data locally for offline access, and syncs with users’ online accounts. The cross‑platform solution was delivered quickly, met all specifications, is available in major app stores, and reduced development and maintenance costs substantially (estimated 5–10× savings) while enabling easy future updates and feature expansion.
