Offline Custom Sales App Built to Serve over 120 Sales People, Many Working in Remote Locations

Service Tool Company, a leading U.S. importer and distributor of hand tools serving over 20,000 customers with a 120-person sales force, needed a modern field sales app that could run reliably in remote locations without cell or Wi‑Fi. Their previous vendor-controlled solution was costly and slow to change, so the company sought an offline-capable, customizable app to enable order-taking and inventory tasks directly at customer sites.

Systems analyst Rusty Bourque and a two-developer team built an offline mobile app using Alpha Anywhere that lets salespeople place orders, inventory stock, record customer details, and view maps; the app is in beta and will move to full production (Phase 1) with Phase 2 adding custom features to replace the legacy ordering system. The rollout is increasing field productivity and responsiveness, and Bourque plans additional mobile apps for the warehouse (e.g., UPC scanning to replace paper forms) to further reduce errors and boost efficiency.
