Low-code Approach Enables Developer to Rapidly Build Expense Tracking App with GPS and Image Capture

Knectsoft, a custom software firm serving industries like automotive and retail, needed to replace a slow, manual expense-reporting process—employees were filling Excel sheets, printing them, and attaching paper receipts. The team also saw an opportunity to turn an internal fix into a commercial product, so they needed a fast, maintainable way to build a mobile expense app that could capture receipts, mileage and GPS data and run on multiple platforms.

Using Alpha Anywhere’s low-code environment, Knectsoft built KnectXpense once and deployed it to iOS and Android, adding photo capture, GPS mileage tracking, server-side storage, automated PDF reports and email delivery plus a back end for administration. The app and back end were completed in a matter of months, reduced development costs and time to market, and created a new subscription revenue stream now used by 20+ companies while making ongoing updates far easier.
