The automotive supplier Magna Steyr faced a challenge at its Graz production site, where a growing volume of orders was straining its infrastructure. The process for trucks to collect empty containers was inefficient, involving multiple manual steps, verbal coordination, and long waiting times that required significant parking areas. To address this, Magna Steyr partnered with vendor Alpega Group and its inet division to implement a solution using the inet TMS and the new iTrace application.

The solution from Alpega Group involved linking the site's key card system to the inet TMS and providing mobile devices to forklift drivers, creating a seamless digital process. This eliminated manual paperwork and verbal alignments, providing real-time status updates and digital signatures. The results were highly effective: the site can now handle twice the number of truck arrivals, significantly reduced truck waiting times, and decreased the required parking areas, all while achieving a nearly paperless process with greater transparency.
