The customer, Backed, a regulated EU issuer of tokenized assets, faced the challenge of making global capital markets more accessible. They sought to overcome outdated and expensive traditional financial infrastructure, especially in emerging markets, by creating a secure and compliant method to tokenize real-world assets. They partnered with vendor Alpaca to utilize its Broker API.

Utilizing Alpaca's Broker API, Backed built a scalable infrastructure for its xStocks product, which tokenizes equities and ETFs. This solution enabled seamless integration, automated workflows, and the efficient tokenization of over 57 assets. The partnership with Alpaca provides Backed with the scalable brokerage rails needed to pursue its goals of achieving $1 billion in AUM and expanding financial accessibility globally.
