How Samueli Academy is helping graduates get college-ready with their first ever virtual networking event

Samueli Academy, a free public charter high school in Santa Ana, faced a difficult transition for its Class of 2020 during COVID-19. With students uncertain about college readiness, the school’s annual in-person networking tradition could not take place, and its small alumni relations team needed a way to keep more than 500 alumni engaged. Almabase provided the alumni network and event platform used to support the effort.

Using Almabase, Samueli Academy created a dedicated virtual event page and hosted its 4th annual College Get Down online, featuring 27 speakers, a keynote from Azure Antionette, breakout sessions, and shared learning resources. The event drew 40 RSVPs in just 12 days and gave graduates practical guidance and encouragement as they prepared for college. With Almabase, Samueli Academy delivered a high-value, accessible program despite the pandemic and continued building stronger alumni engagement.
