How Piedmont University set an alumni donor participation record amidst COVID-19

Piedmont University, a private university in Georgia, faced a sharp rise in financial aid and operational needs during COVID-19, while also struggling with historically low alumni engagement and outdated in-person fundraising methods. To support its students and campus community, the university needed a new way to rally donors virtually, and it turned to Almabase for a branded giving page and digital alumni engagement tools.

Using Almabase, Piedmont University launched its fully virtual Lions Share-a-thon campaign with email, social media, and video outreach, including messages from Leo the mascot, faculty, staff, and students. The campaign raised $322,375 from 333 donors, exceeded its goal by 142%, and increased alumni donor participation from under 3% to more than 5% in a year.
