A Alma CAM Case Study
Thiévin, a family-owned SME manufacturing products for the agricultural and public works sectors, faced a challenge in programming its new, highly complex robotic welding system. The system, featuring two Yaskawa robots operating collaboratively on a gantry with numerous external axes, was too sophisticated to program manually. The company needed an efficient method to handle large, complex parts and dramatically reduce programming time, leading them to seek an off-line programming (OLP) solution from vendor Alma CAM.
Alma CAM implemented its Almacam off-line programming software, which allowed Thiévin to program the robots using CAD models and simulation. This solution enabled the calm definition of the two robots' simultaneous movements and significantly cut programming time. With Alma's support during calibration and training, the project was successfully launched. Thiévin estimates that manufacturing time for these parts will be reduced by 2.5 to 4 times compared to manual welding.
