Off-Line Programming Of A Welding Robot Without Patch

Marcel Testaert, a French manufacturer of metallic moulds for the concrete industry, needed to improve productivity, avoid relocating production, and reduce dependence on hard-to-find skilled welders. To make robotic welding profitable, the company turned to Alma CAM and its act/weld off-line programming software, with the added requirement of eliminating patching on the robot.

Alma CAM implemented a robotized welding cell with off-line programming, supported by Solid Edge CAD integration and calibration of the virtual cell. The result was a “zero patch on the robot” workflow, shorter welding and programming times, improved quality and accuracy, and manual welding time cut by three; production rose to about one mould per day, and the company said the robot investment would not have been profitable without Alma CAM’s off-line programming solution.
