Marchesini Group, a leading packaging machinery manufacturer based in Bologna, needed a more efficient way to program and manage cutting operations across multiple production plants. The company faced the challenge of handling small-series production, prototypes, and single parts while using different cutting technologies, and it wanted a single software platform that could also connect with its Baan management system. Alma CAM’s act/cut Professional software was selected to support this need.

Alma CAM implemented act/cut as a unified CAD/CAM programming system for laser, waterjet, and routing machines, with nesting features that archive and reuse sheet off-cuts and an interface that exchanges production data with Baan. The result was faster programming, better material utilization, and easier coordination across Marchesini Group’s plants; the system also enabled automatic job grouping, production reporting, and accurate time and cost calculations for each part.
