A Alma CAM Case Study
DAHER, through its Socata aeronautics division, needed to modernize and automate the routing cell at its Tarbes plant. The company was facing outdated routing equipment and manual nesting processes, and wanted a flexible, modular system able to handle a wide variety of aluminum parts, customer programs, and sheet thicknesses while improving productivity. Alma CAM provided the software component for the project, with its act/cut routing solution.
Alma CAM implemented intelligent automatic nesting software integrated with Socata’s SAP-based production environment and new Cinetic Machining routing machine. The solution optimized material yield, stacking, machining paths, and offcut usage while automating data flow to the machine and information systems. Results included cutting preparation time in half, improving material yield by 23%, reducing offcuts from 65% to 50%, lowering sheet usage by about 30%, and generating annual aluminum savings of roughly €165K.
