Volkswerft Stralsund, now part of MV Werften, needed to automate manufacturing preparation in its shipyard and improve the nesting of steel plates. Working with Alma CAM, the company sought a solution that could streamline production planning, reduce manual effort, and better integrate with its shipbuilding-specific workflows.

Alma CAM implemented its act/cut software to automate nesting, cutting-path optimization, workshop document creation, and data exchange with production control and ERP systems. The result was a 50% reduction in production preparation and documentation time, zero reported error risk in the nesting process, and the ability to generate about 4,000 nestings and associated workshop documents per year while serving six plate-burning machines.
