A Alma CAM Case Study
COMPTE.R, a French producer of high-capacity biomass and wood-fired boilers, wanted to modernize production, improve quality, and create higher-value jobs while welding increasingly complex boilers. To solve this challenge, the company turned to Alma CAM and its act/weld off-line programming software for a unique robotic welding cell.
Alma CAM implemented a large Yaskawa-based robotic cell with a 3-axis gantry, enabling COMPTE.R to weld a boiler in a single cycle and program welds off-line instead of teaching them manually. The solution also added features for duplicate welds and slot weld recognition, reducing programming time for more than 500 slots to under 15 minutes and requiring only 2 to 3 days to set up the full program. The cell has shown strong potential for productivity and quality, while also retraining two employees to program and manage the system.
