National Ports Authority - Customer Case Study

National Ports Authority, the South African port infrastructure arm of Transnet, needed reliable design tools to manage civil engineering, quay wall strengthening, dredging surveys, and port development planning across its Eastern Cape operations. The team also had to support projects like the West Quay upgrade and a new car terminal while maintaining accurate terrain and volume data for dredging campaigns.

AllyCAD was used extensively by National Ports Authority for conceptual drawings, port development framework work, and planning the new car terminal, while Civil Designer supported survey and dredging modeling. With AllyCAD, the team completed complex project designs more efficiently and accurately; for example, the 254-metre West Quay strengthening project was delivered in seven months at a cost of about R8.4 million, and the software is used daily to help maximize space and traffic flow in port projects.
