A AllyCAD Case Study
George Municipality, responsible for town planning in the fast-growing Blue Mountain Village area in George, faced the challenge of managing complex development applications, building plan approvals, and the creation of accurate electronic town maps. Town Planner Paul Louw and his team needed to convert survey diagrams and general plans into GIS-ready data while avoiding duplication errors and handling a heavy workload of proposals and backlogged plans. AllyCAD was the key software used to simplify this planning and mapping work.
Using AllyCAD, George Municipality drew survey diagrams into electronic town plans, represented erven as objects, and exported the data in shape file format for GIS use. The result was a more efficient workflow for creating and cleaning up planning data, helping the municipality correct duplicate layers, erf numbers, and lines before GIS conversion. AllyCAD supported the municipality in managing up to 20 proposals at a time and contributing to the handling of a backlog of around 500 building plans.
