A AllyCAD Case Study
Du Plessis & Burger Consulting Engineers in Mpumalanga were appointed as project engineers for the R3.7 billion COFAMOSA cross-border irrigation development in Mozambique, a first-of-its-kind SADC initiative. To support the feasibility work, the firm relied on civil engineering software including AllyCAD to investigate land, water, roads, electricity, and irrigation infrastructure for the proposed 29,000-hectare project.
AllyCAD helped Du Plessis & Burger Consulting Engineers produce the engineering data needed for the study and planning process. The project confirmed high-potential irrigation land and sufficient water from the Corumana Dam, with a viable plan to raise the dam from 880 to 1,375 million m³. The initiative is expected to create up to 18,000 permanent jobs and 7,500 additional jobs, while improving infrastructure, expanding farming activity, and boosting the local and national economy.
