A AllyCAD Case Study
Buhrmann & Partners, the structural and civil engineers on the Habitat Research and Development Centre project in Windhoek, faced the challenge of designing an affordable building using unconventional, sustainable materials rather than standard municipal approaches. With support from AllyCAD, they had to adapt quickly to a demanding three-month roads project and needed an extensive computer-aided draughting system to meet deadlines.
AllyCAD was used to design and detail the structures, helping Buhrmann & Partners work successfully with alternative materials such as rammed earth and compressed soil-cement bricks. The vendor, AllyCAD, cut project time, supported pre-testing and planning, and helped deliver a cost-effective result; the first phase was completed in April 2004 and the public wing in September 2004.
