Mountain America Credit Union, a $14B not-for-profit financial institution, needed a better way to automate its online self-service application process while keeping fraudulent applicants out. Its existing fraud detection setup lacked transparency, and the team was forced to manually review applications, costing time and resources. Alloy implemented a more transparent and adjustable onboarding workflow with reason codes and tags that helped Mountain America understand why applications were flagged and tune decisions to its needs. The results were strong: Mountain America reduced approval rates of potentially fraudulent applications by 29% and decreased manual reviews by 6%, while also extending the same workflow improvements to phone and in-branch applications.
