Service Assurance and QoE thru Bandwidth Management and DDoS Mitigation – in a fully virtualized NFV implementation

AMTEL-SVYAZ, a Russia-based satellite communications provider, was struggling with degraded internet quality caused by incoming DDoS attacks, outbound bot traffic, P2P activity, and other bandwidth-hogging applications that were consuming around 30% of available bandwidth. To address this challenge, the company evaluated multiple DPI-based options before selecting Allot’s Service Gateway and DDoS Secure solution.

Allot implemented a fully virtualized NFV deployment on COTS hardware, combining SmartTraffic QoE, DDoS protection, and bot containment to control abuse, block attacks, and improve per-subscriber traffic management. As a result, AMTEL-SVYAZ increased VSAT hub capacity by approximately 30%, improved video streaming quality, gained better visibility into threats, and expected about 15% satellite resource savings with ROI in 3–7 months.
