UK School Gets Higher Performance, More Capacity, and Centralized Management Capabilities

Torquay Boys’ Grammar School in Devon, England, needed to replace an aging wireless network that was no longer supported by the manufacturer and lacked the centralized management, visibility, and control its ICT team wanted. The school also wanted a stronger wireless foundation for growing BYOD use and future classroom digital learning, and evaluated Allied Telesis as a possible new networking partner.

Allied Telesis provided new wireless access points and the Vista Manager EX management platform, integrated with Active Directory for secure, policy-based access and easier administration. The result was increased network coverage, capacity, and performance, along with centralized “single pane of glass” management; the school also highlighted the solution’s enterprise features and cost-effectiveness, deploying just over 40 APs with room to scale to 3,000 APs from one Vista Manager EX instance.
