Case Study: EastLink achieves safer, faster freeway surveillance with Allied Telesis

A Allied Telesis Case Study

Preview of the Eastlink Case Study

Swift and Safe Freeway Travel Enabled with No Delays

EastLink, the Melbourne tollway operator, needed to replace its unsupported proprietary analog video system with a future-proof IP surveillance network that could support more than 200 cameras across 39 kilometers of freeway, tunnels, and road infrastructure. The challenge was to achieve very high availability, strong security, fast failover, and easier maintenance while handling harsh roadside and tunnel environments. Allied Telesis was selected to help meet these requirements.

Allied Telesis implemented a resilient network using Industrial Ethernet switches in roadside cabinets, SwitchBlade x908 GEN2 core switches with VCStack virtualization and 40 Gigabit interconnects, plus AMF and Vista Manager EX for automation and monitoring. The result was greater network insight, improved reliability, simplified administration, and rapid failover for business continuity. EastLink reported better incident response and safety, with a high-capacity multicast video network that improved real-time camera visibility and helped deliver safer, smoother freeway operations.
