Open Networking Foundation Walks the Walk with an Allied Telesis Software Defined Network Solution

The Open Networking Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to advancing software-defined networking, wanted to “walk the walk” by deploying an SDN solution at its California headquarters. To do so, it selected Allied Telesis to deliver a wired and wireless network built around OpenFlow and the Faucet SDN controller.

Allied Telesis implemented a pure OpenFlow SDN network using an x930 Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switch, x510 advanced stackable Gigabit switches, and an 802.11.ac wireless access point. The deployment took less than one hour to unpack, rack, and power on, worked out of the box, and was designed to scale to 2,000 users if needed.
