Network Automation Enables High Performance and Simple Management for Busy Italian Sea Port

The Autorità di Sistema Portuale del Mare Adriatico Meridionale, which manages several seaports in southern Italy including the Port of Bari, needed to modernize customs digitization, vehicle access control, and goods tracking while handling growing volumes of video, security, and operational data. Allied Telesis was chosen to support the network upgrade required for the new Port Community System and surveillance systems.

Allied Telesis implemented a high-availability, high-performance network built around SwitchBlade x908 GEN2 core switches with VCStack, 10 Gigabit aggregated fiber uplinks, x510 and x530 access switches, and centralized management through Vista Manager EX and Autonomous Management Framework. The result was a resilient, scalable, and easier-to-manage network that supports 24/7 port operations, reduces administration time and cost, and provides the capacity needed for future growth.
