Eastlink upgrades freeway surveillance with Allied Telesis for 99.95% availability and 40G failover

EastLink, a major tollway operator in Melbourne, Australia, faced the challenge of replacing its outdated analog video surveillance system. The new network needed to support over 200 digital cameras, provide 99.95% availability for real-time hazard detection, and operate reliably in harsh roadside and tunnel environments. Allied Telesis was selected to provide a complete Industrial Ethernet switching and network management solution to meet these critical objectives.

Allied Telesis implemented a high-performance, redundant network using its Industrial Ethernet (IE510) switches for the roadside cabinets and SwitchBlade x908 GEN2 core switches with VCStack virtualization. Managed by the Autonomous Management Framework (AMF) and Vista Manager EX, the solution provided EastLink with a rock-solid, highly available platform. The results included simplified management, improved network insight and reliability, and most importantly, enhanced road-user safety through faster incident response and greater situational awareness for control room operators.
