EastLink, the operator of a major tollway in Melbourne, Australia, faced the challenge of replacing its outdated analog video surveillance system. They required a new high-performance IP network to monitor over 200 cameras across 40 kilometers of road and tunnels, demanding extreme reliability (99.95% availability), strong security, and total redundancy to ensure driver safety with no delays. They partnered with Allied Telesis to design and implement this critical upgrade.

Allied Telesis provided a total solution featuring Industrial Ethernet switches for harsh roadside and tunnel environments, core SwitchBlade x908 GEN2 switches with VCStack for redundancy, and the Autonomous Management Framework (AMF) with Vista Manager EX for simplified automation and monitoring. The results included a resilient, high-capacity multicast network that enabled real-time analytics and improved incident response. This provided EastLink with greater network insight, improved reliability, and ease of maintenance, directly contributing to the safety of the 250,000 vehicles that use the tollway daily.
