Comal Impianti selects Allied Telesis to provide advanced, integrated security solution

Comal Impianti, an Italian industrial plant builder and power plant developer, needed a secure, reliable network for five new photovoltaic plants in Montalto di Castro. The challenge was to protect an extensive, isolated perimeter without permanent security staff, while supporting IP-based video surveillance and intrusion sensors in harsh outdoor conditions. Allied Telesis was selected to provide the network foundation for this security system.

Allied Telesis implemented an integrated security solution using IFS802SP managed industrial switches around the plant perimeter and CentreCOM GS924M switches in the control room. The industrial switches’ wide operating temperature range and DIN-rail mounting made them suitable for outdoor cabinets, while X-Ring network recovery in as little as 20ms helped ensure high availability for sensor and camera traffic. As a result, Comal Impianti gained a robust, resilient security network that improved monitoring across the PV plants, and the company plans to use Allied Telesis again for future projects.
