A Allied Telesis Case Study
Comal Impianti, an Italian company specializing in the construction of industrial plants, needed to secure five remote photovoltaic installations. The challenge was to protect these large, isolated sites from intrusion with a highly reliable security system, requiring a robust network infrastructure capable of withstanding harsh environmental conditions and multiple potential faults. They turned to vendor Allied Telesis for a solution using their industrial Ethernet switches.
Allied Telesis implemented a redundant fiber optic ring network using their IFS802SP industrial switches for the perimeter and GS924M switches in the control room. This solution leveraged Allied Telesis' X-ring technology to ensure high reliability, with a fault recovery time of just 50ms, guaranteeing continuous operation even after a cable break. The client appreciated the reliability and industrial characteristics of the Allied Telesis equipment, leading them to plan its use for future security implementations at other photovoltaic plants.
