Campus Security Upgrade Ensures Success for the Kangan Institute

Kangan Institute, a major Australian training provider with multiple Melbourne campuses, needed to upgrade its aging analog CCTV system to improve student safety and deter vandalism across busy day-and-night campus grounds. The institute wanted a more reliable surveillance approach that could integrate with its wider network and support security operations without overextending surveillance across public spaces. Allied Telesis was selected as part of an IP-based security upgrade, alongside a Verint security system and support from Q Video Systems.

Allied Telesis implemented an IP network backbone using Power over Ethernet switches to support around 400 cameras across the campuses, giving the institute a stable platform for its CCTV and security integrations. The result was more seamless emergency response, better situational awareness, and dependable system uptime; the monitoring area expanded while camera numbers grew by 20% annually over two years, with the switches continuing to operate reliably without interruption. Kangan Institute also received a highly commended award for its integrated security solution, underscoring the success of the Allied Telesis deployment.
