Case Study: Materialise achieves a high-performance, always-on global network with Allied Telesis

A Allied Telesis Case Study

Preview of the Materialise Case Study

Allied Telesis advanced network technology and long partnership with 3D printing company Materialise reaps results

Materialise, a Belgium-based global leader in 3D printing software and services, needed to modernize a fragmented headquarters network that had grown over time across four buildings and connected offices worldwide. The mixed-vendor environment made management and troubleshooting difficult, while the company also needed secure, high-speed connectivity for printers, office collaboration tools, IoT devices, and data exchange.

Allied Telesis implemented a new network centered on x950 Series switches stacked with VCStack, with multiple 10 Gigabit fiber links in LAGs to deliver high availability, scalability, and no single point of failure. The rollout also included AlliedWare Plus OS across around 280 switches worldwide, 802.1x authentication, and seamless interoperability with Fortinet firewalls. Materialise reports rare network issues, simple plug-and-play replacement and expansion, and a more reliable, high-performance network that supports always-on operations and faster service delivery.
