Setting the Stage for a Larger Migration Program

Staten Island University Hospital (part of Northwell Health) engaged Align to perform a data center assessment and lead a migration program to move applications from their pouch data center to the MIT data center in Yonkers, NY. The hospital faced limited visibility into other infrastructure initiatives, lacked a central repository for vendor licenses (resulting in expired software), and needed clear future-state application designs before migration—a situation Align addressed with its data center assessment and migration services.

Align conducted a gap analysis, produced future-state designs, rollback and testing plans, refreshed operating systems and hardware, developed a shared database infrastructure, and worked with application owners and vendors to plan and execute the migration. Align delivered a detailed migration program and executed the move of 123 applications, decommissioned servers, installed and configured new equipment, and demonstrated cost savings to the CIO and CFO by correcting and updating application licensing.
