Align worked with Health Insurance Provider to help them exit a colocation data center in Ashburn, VA and increase cloud flexibility while reducing costs. The consolidation had to be completed in an aggressive four-month window; initial estimates of ~1,000 impacted devices grew after Align’s inventory to 3,571 physical devices supporting development/test, QA, DR, email and some production services.

Align designed a Current‑to‑Future state migration, performing technology refreshes, re‑aligning compute and storage, building structured cabling, and executing an 11‑week plan with device bundles, nine migration waves, a T‑8 runbook and dedicated wave/disconnect/reconnect leads. Align completed the move of 3,571 devices within four months, achieving a 40% reduction in data center footprint and migrating 800+ applications, 1,800+ physical servers, 14,000 virtual servers, 450 storage devices and 840+ network devices, while enabling greater cloud adoption and potential operational savings.
