DPR Construction, a global leader in commercial general contracting and construction, needed to fast-track a multi-year migration of business applications to the Microsoft Azure Public Cloud after an imminent Arizona data center lease renewal. Critical to the effort was ensuring the core construction management application experienced no business impact, so DPR engaged Align to lead a condensed five-month program using Align’s phased cloud migration approach to assess current state, design the future state, and execute the migration.

Align worked with DPR’s infrastructure, development and architecture teams using an agile, scrum-style process and leveraged Azure tools and services—including Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery, Azure DBaaS, and Azure Data Box—along with Meraki, AnyConnect and Azure ExpressRoute to build a highly available, secure Azure environment. In under five months Align migrated over 300 servers supporting 80 applications, moved 200+ TB of data, consolidated 400+ databases, achieved zero-downtime migrations of the core business app, deployed resilient AD sites, realized an estimated $3,000,000 five-year TCO savings, and eliminated DPR’s data center footprint.
