Align Migrates 300+ Applications to Consolidate and Modernize Oppenheimer Data Center

Oppenheimer & Co. (OPCO) turned to Align for help relocating and migrating its 300 Madison data center in New York City. The facility had outdated infrastructure and legacy hardware, and OPCO lacked a CMDB to show how applications related to the underlying infrastructure.

Align managed the project end to end, using a four-phase migration approach that included a proof of concept, current state assessment, migration planning, and execution. Align inventoried more than 300 applications, mapped dependencies, applied the 6 R’s to determine each asset’s disposition, and coordinated move waves and cutovers. The result was a full migration completed on time and on budget, with end-of-life systems eliminated and the infrastructure technically refreshed as OPCO moved to a new data center in Virginia.
