Align Leads Major Healthcare Player’s Data Center Consolidation Post Acquisition

Cigna acquired eviCore and needed to streamline operations by consolidating two data center environments without disrupting critical healthcare applications. Align was brought in to assess the current state, design the target infrastructure, and manage the virtual migration and decommissioning of eviCore’s data centers in Atlanta and Dallas into Cigna’s facilities in Chicago and Piscataway.

Align completed a large-scale migration that included profiling 543 applications, moving 3,500 virtual machines across 33 migration waves, and decommissioning 1,800 VMs. The project reduced annual expenses by $2 million, lowered technical debt, improved disaster recovery and cloud readiness, strengthened security with encryption standards, and left Cigna with a more scalable and efficient infrastructure.

Cigna
