White Cap, a leading supplier of power tools and specialty materials to professional concrete contractors, faced a twofold challenge after divesting and merging with CSG: to establish standalone HR operations and consolidate a fragmented HR technology landscape (Kronos, PeopleSoft, HRMS, VIBE and spreadsheets) so they could exit their Transition Services Agreement (TSA) on time, improve employee experience, and enable future M&A. Because White Cap’s parent was already deploying Workday, Alight Solutions—already engaged on that Workday deployment—partnered early to plan the HR separation and identify which elements of the existing Workday work could be leveraged.
Alight Solutions cloned the in-progress Workday tenant and completed parallel deployments, converting the CSG population and enabling multiple Workday SKUs (HCM, Payroll, Recruiting, Learning, Time Tracking, etc.). The result: HR platforms were reduced from nine to one, payroll platforms consolidated with Alight Solutions managing payroll, faster onboarding of acquisitions, standardized compliance and improved user satisfaction; the timely delivery also avoided more than $100k in TSA extension costs. White Cap continues to rely on Alight Solutions for Workday Optimization, Release Management and Managed Payroll to sustain and expand value.
