Rolling Motion Industries - Customer Case Study

Rolling Motion Industries (founded by inventor John Pawloski) faced the classic inventor’s challenge: a promising new rolling gearbox—the RMI Traction Drive—was stuck in John’s head because he lacked CAD skills and the time to return to school while running his family’s CNC thread-grinding business. A friend recommended Alibre, and John adopted Alibre Design to translate his concept into manufacturable 3D models.

Using Alibre Design (with SimWise stress analysis), John was able to quickly model, iterate, and prototype the RMI Traction Drive in-house; the first units are now in the field and subsequent versions were also designed in Alibre. The result is a simple, cost‑effective traction drive with very high true efficiency (in the high 90s), lower transmission error and quieter operation than gearboxes, faster design-to-market cycles, and growing sales across medical, mobility, HVAC and green‑energy markets — all enabled by Alibre.
