Richmond Measurement Services - Customer Case Study

Richmond Measurement Services, a Derby-based designer of instrumentation and test systems for aerospace, medical, power generation and transport customers, needed a 3D CAD solution to handle close-tolerance part and assembly modelling, integrate commercially available components, and generate manufacturing-ready 2D drawings. To meet those challenges they selected Alibre and its Alibre Design 3D mechanical CAD package for its advanced features and cost-effective pricing.

Using Alibre Design, RMS imported SAT/IGES/STP parts, created reusable subassemblies, and used the catalog feature to speed repeated feature and part creation; 3D models were quickly converted to 2D drawings with GD&T and parts lists and fed into the PCB CAD system to prevent layout errors. The result was faster design time—an initial top-level assembly in about one week and a full drawing set in a few days—simplified modelling and assembly workflows, and measurable productivity gains after adopting Alibre.
