HG Building Design - Customer Case Study

HG Building Design, led by veteran architect Helmuth Geiser, needed a way to turn unconventional, organic structural concepts into buildable designs—lighter, more stable bridges and resilient, low-cost shipping-container homes—while working with nonstandard materials and fabrication methods. To achieve this, HG Building Design adopted Alibre’s 3D CAD software, Alibre Design, to model and iterate complex forms that typical architectural tools couldn’t handle efficiently.

Using Alibre Design, HG Building Design produced two bridge models that use 55% less material than the prior design while improving stabilization, and developed a shipping-container home engineered to withstand earthquakes and hurricane‑force winds using inexpensive, recycled materials. Alibre enabled faster, more intuitive modeling of bent-steel and CNC-friendly components, letting HG Building Design rapidly validate constructible solutions and realize measurable material savings and increased resilience.
