Morphsuits, the fancy dress company founded by Gregor Lawson and brothers Fraser and Ali Smeaton, needed a way to source and develop a unique all-in-one costume that could be manufactured to the right quality and feel. Using Alibaba.com, they connected with overseas manufacturers to create prototypes and find the right polyester-and-Spandex mix for their new product.

Alibaba.com helped Morphsuits turn a simple idea into a scalable business by enabling them to source prototype makers and later place their first manufacturing order in China. The company grew rapidly, selling £1.2 million of Morphsuits in its first year while still part-time, and later reached just under £12 million in revenue for the financial year ending May 2012, with year-on-year growth of 300%.
