Tokocrypto grows to 2 million users with Alibaba Cloud

Tokocrypto, an Indonesian crypto exchange platform, faced the challenge of supporting its growing ecosystem with a modular architecture. They required an all-in-one infrastructure solution from a vendor that could ensure compliance with local regulations, provide scalability for market spikes, and offer cost-efficiency with reduced operations and maintenance. They turned to Alibaba Cloud for a solution involving its cloud products.

Alibaba Cloud implemented a solution using Elastic Compute Service (ECS) for business applications and Container Service (ACK) to facilitate the move to microservices and reduce O&M. For its databases, Tokocrypto utilized Alibaba Cloud's PolarDB, ApsaraDB for MongoDB, and ApsaraDB for Redis. This provided the necessary flexibility, high availability, and automated scaling. The results were significant, with registered users growing from 250,000 in 2020 to over 2 million by the end of 2021, and daily trading value reaching over $191 million.
