Garuda Indonesia cuts network latency by 20% with Alibaba Cloud

Garuda Indonesia, the national flag carrier airline of Indonesia, faced significant challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused a sharp decline in passenger traffic. The airline needed to adapt by implementing cost-efficient, contactless technology and strengthening its digital assets, including its corporate website and mobile booking applications. To meet this challenge, Garuda Indonesia partnered with Alibaba Cloud for a cloud migration.

Alibaba Cloud, along with partners Indosat Ooredoo and ViBiCloud, migrated over 85 virtual machines and 3 databases to its cloud platform within two weeks. The solution utilized Alibaba Cloud's migration and database transmission services, Server Load Balancers, and VPN Gateways. As a result, Garuda Indonesia significantly reduced network latency by almost 20%, improved application performance, and increased operational efficiency with minimal business disruption.
