DeepIR is a deep learning and artificial intelligence technology and services company with operations in Beijing, Xiamen and Singapore. As its image recognition business grew, the company needed to handle large volumes of high-definition content while keeping services competitive and controlling infrastructure costs. It looked to Alibaba Cloud for cloud infrastructure to complement its on-premise HPC environment, with Express Connect as a key service.

Alibaba Cloud provided Express Connect along with ECS, OSS and RAM to move parts of DeepIR’s workload from HPC to the cloud and support secure access to processed files. The setup enabled data transfer between data centers through secured network protocols, reduced packet loss, increased security by isolating communication networks, and removed the ECS jump server bottleneck. DeepIR also reported better intranet network quality and sufficient bandwidth, with Alibaba Cloud managing the Express Connect service through an official web console.
