Cainiao, the logistics arm of Alibaba Group, faced the challenge of managing an incredibly complex supply chain to fulfill its mission of 24-hour domestic and 72-hour international delivery. To overcome the biggest hurdle of data cooperation across its vast network, Cainiao relied on Alibaba Cloud's Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platform to build its data-driven "logistics cloud" and make data sharing a reality.

Using Alibaba Cloud's big data, AI, and machine learning technologies, Cainiao built a knowledge platform and five specialized networks to serve all stakeholders. The solution provided real-time package tracking, address standardization, route optimization algorithms, and AI-enabled tools for warehouse management. This implementation by Alibaba Cloud resulted in a 170% yearly growth rate for Cainiao's fulfillment network, a 98% on-time delivery rate, and the processing of over nine trillion data pieces daily, saving an estimated 260 million hours in delivery time each day.
