PlanetWatch, an environmental startup focused on improving global air quality monitoring, needed a way to validate, filter, and share sensor data in real time while creating a trustworthy historical record. To support this mission, PlanetWatch worked with Algorand and its blockchain network to build a decentralized, immutable ledger for air quality sensor data.

Using Algorand’s speed and scale, PlanetWatch transcribed air-quality readings from its distributed sensor network onto the blockchain, creating a global, immutable repository accessible to all participants. The solution helped decentralize and incentivize monitoring, while sensor owners earned PLANET tokens, an Algorand Standard Asset (ASA), for contributing data.
