Hummingbot is an open-source algorithmic trading platform that helps users automate crypto trading across centralized exchanges and decentralized protocols. As its liquidity mining program grew, Hummingbot struggled with rising Ethereum gas fees for ERC20 reward payments, making the model inefficient and in some cases too costly to scale.

To address this, Hummingbot implemented Algorand for stablecoin payouts, starting with Algorand USDT for its liquidity mining campaign and exploring broader use across other campaigns. By using Algorand’s low-cost blockchain and native support for USDT and USDC, Hummingbot can pay out any reward amount, eliminating its previous $50 minimum payout threshold for ERC20 rewards and improving the efficiency of its payment process.
