WW, the 55‑year‑old wellness company with 4.5 million members, set out to evolve from the world’s leading commercial weight‑management program into the world’s partner in wellness. With members’ lives growing busier, WW faced the challenge of embedding healthy, repeatable habits into everyday routines by enhancing its digital experience so wellness could be seamless and accessible.
To address this, WW partnered with Algolia to build Wellow, a voice application launched on Google Home in October 2018 (with Amazon Alexa support arriving in early 2019). Using conversational AI, natural‑language processing and intent detection, Wellow enables hands‑free food tracking and recipe search in natural speech—making the experience easier, more natural and more integrated into daily life—and positioning WW to continue modernizing its member experience.
