The National Institute for Nuclear Physics Uses Alfresco to Collaborate on Research, Experiments and Ideas

The National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN) is Italy’s leading research agency for subnuclear, nuclear and astroparticle physics, with thousands of staff and associates working across numerous sites. INFN needed a more robust, secure repository and collaboration platform to share sensitive documents, images and multimedia from experiments and to connect distributed research teams more effectively.

After evaluating options, INFN implemented Alfresco (starting with Community Edition, later upgrading to Enterprise) as its single document management platform. Alfresco now supports project sites, version control and multimedia for all 25 INFN sites, manages AutoCAD projects, contracts, invoices and HR processes, and serves over 2,500 users — reducing search time, improving workflows and achieving strong organizational adoption.
