Royal Australasian College of Physicians - Customer Case Study

The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) trains and supports more than 13,500 physicians and 5,000 trainees across Australia and New Zealand and needed a way to efficiently organise, store and share a large collection of training materials, conference videos, case studies and other multimedia. The College also faced the challenge of winning over a significant number of technology‑averse members, so any solution had to be intuitive and widely adoptable.

RACP trialled Alfresco Community Edition and then deployed Alfresco Enterprise 3.3.4 to power Video Management, My Resources and collaboration sites, using WebDAV, CMIS and Alfresco Share with LDAP group integration and support from Seed Information Management. The platform consolidated content into a searchable repository with 100+ collaboration sites, improved access and lifecycle management of resources, was well received by members (including less tech‑savvy users) and increased usage while laying the groundwork for a formal document management strategy and future mobile access.
