Oxford University Press Maximizes Utilization of Digital Asset Library with Alfresco

Oxford University Press (OUP), the world’s largest university press publishing in more than 40 languages, needed a robust, scalable Digital Asset Management (DAM) platform to manage millions of assets across 6,000+ employees and multiple divisional silos. OUP’s goals were to increase collaboration and asset reuse, reduce manual administration and cost, and accelerate digital output while maintaining secure, role-based access for internal teams and external freelancers.

After a competitive evaluation, OUP implemented an Alfresco-based global DAM that unifies divisional sites on a single platform, integrates with existing publishing workflows, and combines Alfresco, MarkLogic, Dell DX and Solr for flexible storage and powerful search. The system improved discoverability, reuse and repurposing of assets, streamlined editorial and approval workflows, enhanced cross-team collaboration, and established a single source of truth that speeds product delivery and boosts the value and reach of OUP’s digital content.
