Vblock Enables Hospital to Leverage Electronic Health Records

Gordon Memorial Hospital, a small healthcare facility in Gordon, Nebraska, needed to replace aging one-server infrastructure that could no longer keep up with growing patient demand and support an electronic health record (EHR) system. The hospital also needed a way to maintain data between its main facility and an off-site clinic, and turned to Alexander Open Systems (AOS) for help with a VCE Vblock System-based solution.

Alexander Open Systems implemented the Vblock System along with EMC Data Domain and EMC Networker software to accelerate backup and deduplication and support a virtualized environment. The system was installed quickly, fully configured within a week, and helped Gordon Memorial Hospital move additional applications like Exchange, SharePoint, and VDI onto the platform. The result was improved ability to deliver patient care, lower IT costs, and a scalable foundation for future growth.
